PKD

Welcome

You’ve probably never heard of PKD until now. Don’t feel bad about it — I had never heard of it, either, until I was diagnosed with Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) a few years ago. ADPKD is the most common type of PKD, and doesn’t begin to show symptoms until the person is in their 30s or 40s. But about 10% of people with PKD have Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease (ARPKD), a far more serious form of the disease which affects the individual from birth.

The mint green ribbon is for awareness of Polycystic Kidney Disease.
