Welcome to the PKD Awareness website. This site will give you more information on Polycystic Kidney Disease or PKD.

Polycystic Kidney Disease is the most common genetic, life threatening disease affecting more than 600,000 Americans and an estimated 12.5 million people worldwide – regardless of sex, age, race or ethnic origin. In fact, PKD affects more people than cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy, hemophilia, Down syndrome and sickle cell anemia — combined.

Right now, there is no cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease. But the PKD Foundation is working every day on awareness, advocacy, living with PKD, and — someday — a cure.

  1. My father found out he had PKD at 85 when he was terminal with macroglobulinanemia, [unrelated?] I found out in school. I have no symptoms that relate, that I know of. My HMO does not know. What should I do?
